Our Vision

The Newark Star Rotary Club is committed to doing our part to fulfill the vision of Rotary International:

“Together we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”

Our Mission

Newark STAR Rotary will serve and impact our communities while building goodwill and lasting friendships.

Our Values

Rotary International promotes the values of Service, Fellowship, Diversity, Integrity, and Leadership. Newark STAR Rotary builds upon that foundation with core values central to our shared purpose and drive to create a welcoming environment for all who wish to join our efforts.

OUR CORE VALUES

  • Welcome all – we will provide an inclusive, diverse, and respectful environment that encourages and inspires participation and idea generation from current and prospective members.

  • Promote peace & understanding – we will speak truthfully, openly, and kindly to one another and listen with the intent to understand one another’s perspectives.

  • Make progress – we will positively impact the quality of life for our neighbors and friends through goal-oriented, hands-on service projects.

  • Bolster friendships – we will be a safe space for members to seek guidance, support, and inspiration, helping them to reach personal, professional and club goals, weather hardships and celebrate milestones.

  • Have fun – we will spark joy among our fellow Rotarians and their families as well as the individuals, communities, and organizations we support.

Rotary is a global network of 1.4 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

Rotary is dedicated to causes that build international relationships, improve lives, and create a better world to support our peace efforts and end polio forever.

The Four-Way Test, which was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor to save the Club Aluminum Products company from bankruptcy.  Profound in its simplicity, the Four-Way was adopted by Rotary International in the 1940’s when Taylor became RI president.  It is a world-wide moral and ethical code for personal and business relationships.  It remains unchanged today.  The test has been translated into more than 100 languages, and Rotarians recite it at club meetings:

Of the things we think, say, or do:

  1. Is it the TRUTH?

  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?

  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years. Our goal of ridding the world of this disease is closer than ever.  As a founding partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, we've reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent since our first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.

Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. For more than 110 years, Rotary's people of action have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end.
